In a commendable effort to introduce the legacy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to children in rural Bangladesh, #TeamSufiFaruq has launched a remarkable initiative titled “Read Mujib” across various educational institutions in Kushtia. The campaign has gained significant traction on social media, inspiring similar events in other parts of the country.
The “Read Mujib” campaign is an introductory event designed to enlighten young minds about the life and legacy of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It is based on the graphic novel adaptation of his “Unfinished Autobiography,” a 24-page book titled “Mujib” that was published by Radwan Mujib Siddiq, the grandson of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, from the Centre for Research and Information (CRI) on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s 95th birthday last year. This publication is considered the first character-based graphic novel of its kind in Bangladesh.
The campaign’s structure is both engaging and educational. It typically begins with a projector screening or a live storytelling session, allowing students to visualise the remarkable journey of Bangabandhu. This is followed by a quiz, where enthusiastic participants compete for a chance to win copies of the “Mujib” graphic novel as rewards.
These events are known for their lively, interactive atmosphere, with teachers providing exceptional support and students demonstrating boundless curiosity and enthusiasm, further motivating the organisers. Team Sufi Faruq has been actively encouraging these events, generously providing books as prizes to inspire young learners.
The latest event in this ongoing campaign was successfully held at Mohendrapur High School in Jagannathpur, Kumarkhali, Kushtia, further spreading the message of Bangabandhu’s extraordinary life and his indomitable spirit among the youth.
With each session, “Read Mujib” continues to grow as a powerful educational movement, fostering a deeper connection between the younger generation and the inspirational life of the Father of the Nation.
