“Read Mujib” program in Joduboira High School, Kumarkhali, Kushtia.

In a commendable effort to introduce the legacy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to children in rural Bangladesh, “#TeamSufiFaruq” has launched the “Read Mujib” campaign in various educational institutions in Kushtia. This initiative, aimed at educating the younger generation about the life and contributions of the Father of the Nation, has gained remarkable traction on social media, inspiring similar campaigns in other parts of the country.

The “Read Mujib” campaign is built around the graphic novel adaptation of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s unfinished autobiography, titled “Mujib”. The novel, consisting of 24 pages, was published by Radwan Mujib Siddiq, the grandson of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on his 95th birth anniversary through the Centre for Research and Information (CRI) last year. It stands as one of the first character-based graphic novels in Bangladesh, capturing the essence of Sheikh Mujib’s extraordinary life and his enduring legacy.

The format of the campaign is both engaging and interactive. Students are first introduced to the story through projector screenings or live storytelling sessions. This is followed by a quiz based on the content, where winners are rewarded with copies of the “Mujib” graphic novel, making the learning experience both enjoyable and impactful.

The campaign’s success can be attributed to the enthusiastic participation of students and the unwavering support of teachers, creating an environment where learning about history becomes a vibrant, collective experience. Team Sufi Faruq has been instrumental in providing these books as prizes, further encouraging participation and fostering a deeper connection with the nation’s history.

The latest instalment of the campaign was recently held at Joduboira High School, Kumarkhali, Kushtia, where students eagerly participated, showcasing their growing awareness and appreciation for the remarkable life of Bangabandhu.

This inspiring initiative reflects the power of education in shaping the minds of future generations, ensuring that the legacy of Bangladesh’s founding leader continues to inspire the youth.
