To introduce the life and legacy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to children in the rural areas of Bangladesh, “#TeamSufiFaruq” has launched the “Read Mujib” campaign, which has quickly gained popularity through social media. Originally initiated in various educational institutions in Kushtia, this inspiring effort is now being replicated in many other regions across the country.
The “Read Mujib” campaign is centred around the graphic novel “Mujib,” based on the book “Unfinished Memoirs” by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The novel was adapted and published by Radwan Mujib Siddiq, the grandson of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on the occasion of his 95th birthday, through the Centre for Research and Information (CRI) last year. Spanning 24 pages, “Mujib” stands as the country’s first character-based graphic novel, making the founding father’s story accessible to younger generations in an engaging and visually captivating format.
The campaign events are designed to be lively and interactive, creating an enriching experience for the participants. Children first watch the story on a projector or listen to a storytelling session, after which they participate in a quiz based on the narrative. Winners are rewarded with copies of the “Mujib” graphic novel, encouraging both learning and literary appreciation.
The success of these sessions owes much to the enthusiastic support of teachers and the eager participation of students, who bring each event to life with their curiosity and energy. “#TeamSufiFaruq” continues to drive this initiative, providing the graphic novels as rewards to further motivate the young learners.
The most recent event was held at J N High School, Kumarkhali, Kushtia, where students once again demonstrated their keen interest in learning about the life and ideals of the Father of the Nation.
