In a commendable effort to introduce the life and legacy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the children of rural Bangladesh, #TeamSufiFaruq has launched the “Read Mujib” campaign across various educational institutions in Kushtia. The campaign, which has quickly gained widespread popularity on social media, is now being replicated in numerous other regions across the country.
The Read Mujib initiative is centred around the graphic novel Mujib, which is based on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Unfinished Autobiography. This graphic novel, published by Radwan Mujib Siddiq, the grandson of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was released last year by the Centre for Research and Information (CRI) on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s 95th birth anniversary. Spanning 24 pages, Mujib is regarded as the country’s first character-based graphic novel, offering young readers a visually engaging introduction to the Father of the Nation’s life and struggles.
During the campaign events, students first watch the animated adaptation of the graphic novel on a projector or listen to live storytelling sessions. This immersive experience is followed by interactive quizzes, where the winning students receive copies of the Mujib graphic novel as rewards, making the learning process both enjoyable and memorable.
The sessions have been praised for their vibrant and interactive atmosphere, with enthusiastic support from teachers and inspiring participation from students, reflecting the deep impact of this initiative. #TeamSufiFaruq has taken the lead in encouraging these events, providing the necessary resources and books to ensure their success.
The latest session of the Read Mujib campaign was recently held at Afsar Uddin Memorial Girls’ Madrasa in Kushtia, marking another milestone in this inspiring journey of connecting the next generation with the history and values of Bangabandhu.
